Timeless natural beauty, millions of years in the making
Granite originates by solidification and cooling of Magma deep within the earth over a period of millions of years. It is classified as an igneous rock because of its origin from the cooling down of molten Magma. During the process of heating and then slow cooling, granite forms as an exceedingly hard material.
Marble is classified as metamorphic stone because it is created by the transformation of another type of stone called sedimentary stone. Sedimentary rocks form from sediments in the earth combined with buried plant life under the earth over a long period of time.
There are so many engineered stone products available on the market. Quartz, Porcelain, Sintered Stone.
Quartz has been the main go to engineered stone surface material on the market for around 25 years. Main brands include Silestone made by Cosentino in Spain, Caesarstone made in Israel and a more recent but popular brand called Fugenstone from Asia.
We have more brands available to us. Quartz is manufactured by mixing quartz mineral with resin, pigmentation and particles depending on colour type required. It is then baked in large ovens, cooled, finished and quality checked. After these processes it arrives at our factory ready for fabrication. Usually available in thicknesses of 12mm, 20mm and 30mm. Slab sizes vary but on average are around 3200mm x 1300mm.
This material came to the market around 10 years ago, the main brand is Dekton by Cosentino. This is manufactured by mixing minerals, some recycled materials a water together, then applying high temperatures of heat and pressure, a little bit like a speeded-up process of rock formation.
